For the last 3 decades, Michael (aka Michael Lacey) has lived a wide-ranging life. With an international financial/business background, as well as a life-long passion for telling the story through comedy, somehow along the way, he’s been able to weave both disciplines, improbably, though successfully.
From improv comedy (Bay Area Theatresports) in San Francisco in his 20s to stand-up and sketch comedy clubs in Oakland (Toppers) and Los Angeles (LA Connection, Acme Comedy Theater, The Comedy Store, UCB, the JokePimps) in his 30s, comedy was his lodestar– writing or preforming. The more absurd, the better.
Coincidently, during this same period, he was a senior executive in multiple Fortune 500 companies (MCI, Consolidated Freightways); start-ups (Lionshare Media); and investment firms (Platinum Equity, LLC). A decade vanished by the time he realized his funny bone was broken. In 2011, he officially retired the suit to write and produce, “fish-out-of-water” stories. An idiom he knows quite well.
In 2020 he formed Love Stinks, LLC with his longtime collaborator, Perry Sachs with the intention of bringing a big band musical about a fella with foot fetish in the 1940s to audiences everywhere! Michael lives in Los Angeles with his partner and dog.
